Finding Peace in the Storm
ECE Wellness Center
Objective
Learners will explore how to find calmness and inner peace during stressful or overwhelming situations. They will practice techniques to regulate emotions, manage stress, and return to a centered mindset, even in difficult times.
Reflection
• Storms represent challenges, stress, or difficult moments in life.
• Peace is the calm we can create inside ourselves, even if everything around us feels chaotic.
• Learning to pause, breathe, and reflect helps us respond to situations instead of reacting to them.
Reflection Questions
1. What usually makes you feel stressed or upset?
2. How do you know when your 'storm' is happening inside you?
3. What a tore two things that usually help you feel calmer?
Activity – 'Peace in the Storm' Visualization
• Close your eyes and imagine you are in the middle of a storm with heavy rain and loud thunder.
• Now imagine that the storm slowly fades, the sky clears, and you are safe and calm.
• Draw a picture of your storm on one side of the page and your peaceful place on the other.
Wellness Technique, Calm Breathing with Affirmations
Practice slow breathing while repeating affirmations:
• I am calm in the middle of my storm.
• Peace begins within me.
• My storm does not control me.
• I choose to breathe, release, and be still.
Movement& Music
Play calming instrumental or nature sounds. Invite learners to stretch their arms upward like storm clouds, then slowly bring them down to their sides as the 'storm' passes and peace returns.
Closing Reflection
Take a deep breath and silently say:
• I create my peace, even in storms.
• Calmness is my strength.
• I carry peace with me today.

Sample Answers to Homework
My Reflections:
I will practice being kinder to myself when I feel storms inside me.
My Storm Triggers:
- When I feel overwhelmed with too many tasks at once.
- When people raise their voices or argue around me.
- When I compare myself to others on social media.
My Peace Plan:
When I notice these triggers, I will pause and take 3 deep breaths. I’ll remind myself that I can only do one thing at a time, and I’ll step away from the noise or put my phone down. I’ll listen to calming music or take a short walk to clear my mind.
My Reflections:
- Today I realized I often get caught in my thoughts instead of focusing on what I can control.
- I felt calmer after practicing the breathing exercise during class.
- I want to use the 'peace plan' when I feel stressed about my to-do list.
- I learned that peace is something I can create inside myself.
- I will practice being kinder to myself when I feel storms inside me.
